PROJECT SUMMARY
The Tower Court complex at Wellesley College, built in 1915 on College Hall Hill, is a Collegiate Gothic-style dormitory that has served generations of students. Stone & Lime Historic Restoration Services was subcontracted by Dellbrook/JKS for the complex’s restoration, which was carried out in two phases to ensure minimal disruption to the building’s use.
Phase I focused on exterior work, including extensive repointing of brick and stone, stone repair, replacement of cast stone units, heavy masonry cleaning, and installation of Lead “T” joints. Interior work included cleaning and repointing the Great Hall fireplace, cleaning cast stone columns and window tracery, and caulking.
Phase II continued with a full washdown of the building, additional stone patching and pointing, minor brick replacement, and stucco patching and staining. The removal and reinstallation of Lead “T” joints were also completed during this phase. The project, now finished, preserved the historical integrity of the complex while ensuring it remains a functional and welcoming space for Wellesley College students for years to come.
