PROJECT SUMMARY

As the masonry contractor, Stone & Lime Historic Restoration Services manufactured and installed approximately 2,000 Usonian textile blocks for the Usonian Building and Tourism Center and President’s Terrace in 47 different variations fabricated using natural cement from France. Molds, using Teflon coated plastic inserts, were fabricated and more than 50 mixes and hundreds of samples were created in-house before arriving at the final product, which is twice as dense and strong as the original blocks; providing future sustainability while maintaining historical accuracy. The building was grouted using custom natural cement grout. After the successful completion of the Usonian House, Stone & Lime Historic Restoration Services was contracted to manufacture and construct a fountain, specially designed for the site, using similar textile blocks.
