PROJECT SUMMARY

As the masonry contractor, Stone & Lime Historic Restoration Services manufactured and installed approximately 2,000 Usonian textile blocks for the Usonian Building and Tourism Center and President’s Terrace in 47 different variations; fabricated using natural cement from France. Molds, using Teflon coated plastic inserts, were fabricated and more than 50 mixes and hundreds of samples were created in-house before arriving at the final product, which is twice as dense and strong as the original blocks: providing future sustainability while maintaining historical accuracy. The building was grouted using custom natural cement grout.

After the successful completion of the Usonian House, Stone& Lime Historic Restoration Services was contracted to manufacture and construct a fountain, specially designed for the site, using similar textile blocks.
